Exploration
Successful exploration requires more than gung ho experience divers; it requires an experienced leader who understands what it takes and what happens behind the scenes. This leader must be able to build a solid cohesive team often far from home or sometimes even civilization. This leader must be able to deal with the local politics, foresee the issues the team will face have amazing planning abilities to effectively deal with all the logistical planning before the dives and make sure the equipment, gas and divers arrive and everything is organized to minimize time wasting. During the expedition the leader must possess the strength and confidence of a C.E.O. with the interpersonal diplomatic skills of an ambassador to deal with all the strong personalities, serve as coach to the team mates and have the strength to pull the thumb on a dive, for any reason, before it even starts if he feels it should not proceed.
With the organizational skills honed from my role as a corporate executive coupled with my vast experience as an exploration diver and more importantly as that of expedition leader, we have the skills and experience needed to assist you in your expedition. We are happy to do so in the role of a consultant for your exploration planning, logistics and operations, or as an exploration diver or onsite as expedition leader.
Finally, when it comes to Exploration, membership in the Explorers Club is the gold standard. The Club was founded in 1904 and promotes the scientific exploration of land, sea, air, and space. Its members include the world’s most elite explorers, many of which have been responsible for an illustrious series of famous firsts: First to the North Pole, first to the South Pole, first to the summit of Mount Everest, first to the deepest point in the ocean, first to the surface of the moon—all accomplished by our members. Explorer’s Club membership is invitation only and a tremendous honor. Errol’s is proud to be a member though he did not seek membership, they sought him. He still believes that “It is the act, not the glory” but realizes sharing his information and knowledge for the benefit of the planet and people is a worthy cause.
